Mother Winter

She lays her icy blanket down she sprinkles tree and bush

Her fur trimmed white resplendant gown her horses as they rush

They pull the crystal coach of light that weaves its icy trail

Mother winter has arrived through blizzard storm and gale

She works her magic through the night her horses tired and weary

And as the morning light appears the town is still and eerie

The children wake and rub their eyes their bedrooms bright and chilly

Outside a carpet crisp and white and deep and cold and frilly

Mother winter's long since gone her snowy blanket laid

She knows the kids will have great fun as men of snow are made

We hope she comes again tonight and lays her blanket deep

While all the kids lie in their beds tucked up and fast asleep
